Welcome! I have been at Elsa England since we first opened our doors 8 years ago. I remember the excitement as we began building our learning community that first year. We started traditions, made new friends, and began paving the way for our students to become life-long 21st century learners. I still feel that same excitement and I am looking forward to another great year as our journey continues.
A little bit about me...
I am originally from Texas but lived in Virginia for over 20 years before returning to Texas. I graduated from James Madison University and began teaching in Virginia where I taught kinder, first, and third grade. This is my 10th year teaching 3rd grade in RRISD. I am amazed that each year is just as exciting and rewarding as the last.
My husband and I moved to Texas after the birth of our first child. We have three children: Carter, Trent, and Kelly. Carter is a freshman in college, Trent is a junior at RRHS, and Kelly is a freshman at RRHS. I enjoy living in Austin, however, I miss the seasons (especially fall leaves and snow) and the beach-one of my favorite places. Luckily, we are able to get away to Port Aransas several times a year to get our beach time. In my spare time I enjoy watching my children play sports, walking, reading, photography, playing games with my children, and going on family outings.
Teaching has always been my passion. It's my true calling in life and I can't imagine being in any other profession. I am passionate about growing as a professional-I'm a professional development junkie! I'm always striving to lift the level of my instruction. I have participated in numerous district cohorts including Literacy Leadership, Math Rocks, Writing Rocks and Reading Rocks. Currently I am part of the Math Collaborative team and a Comprehension/Writing Cohort. As a teacher, my mission is to foster a love of learning, ignite a passion for reading/writing, promote problem solving, develop global citizens, and encourage discovery, curiosity, innovation & creativity.
I can't wait to get to know you and your child as we partner together to make your child's third grade year remarkable!
