Hope you had a wonderful holiday! It was so nice to have some relaxing, fun time with my family. I was thinking about everything I am thankful for over the break, and one of them is being a teacher at Elsa England and having a career that I enjoy so much. I am thankful for being able to spend my days with your children. Can't wait to see them tomorrow morning!
Here's what we are learning this week... Science: We'll continue to develop an understanding about the importance of conserving natural resources. Also, we'll learn about mixtures; what they are and how they can be separated based on physical properties of matter. Reading: This week students will prepare for our first reading benchmark which will take place later in the week. Students will complete their second practice passage, (we did one before the break), and we'll learn some test taking strategies and vocabulary. Additionally, students will read and respond to nonfiction texts and learn how to use context clues. Writing: Students will conduct research for our PBL project. The focus will be on recycling and plastic waste as students search for information about the affects of plastic on the environment, problems associated with plastic use, and solutions to the problem. Math: We'll continue to solve multiplication problems using various strategies as well as play games to develop fact fluency. Another focus will be on modeling division using pictorial representations, arrays, equal groups, and jumps on a number line. Upcoming Events: Wednesday, December 3- Early Release Thursday, December 18- 3rd Grade Winter Party
